Ok, I know it seems like I'm only picking strapless little sheaths, but that's what this summer weather is dictating, and it's what the hot celebs are wearing, so we all just have to go with it.
Now, I'm sure most of you are familiar with Blake Lively and her head scratchingly meteoric rise to fame in the past couple of years, to me she still needs to earn some career respect. That said, she has done pretty well fashion wise during her brief red carpet courtship. What I truly respect is that she seems to pick out her own clothing, without much stylist aid. She told Vogue in this month's issue that she just goes on Style.com to see what she likes, and I applaud her sartorial chutzpah.
As to this particular dress, worn to the CFDA awards, I love it's bold use of color. What's interesting is that this perfect warm weather look was actually shown in Michael Kors' Fall '09 show, which you should check out on style.com just like Ms Lively. Also, much like last week's look where the shiny fabric worked in place of jewelry, the day-glo fuschia here negates the need for much else to look at. Blake keeps it real with just one little black ring and nude heels. I wouldn't have minded black stilettos to coordinate with the ring, but this works well too. Blake looks fun, flirty and fresh. My favorite bit about Blake is that she is the kid sister of Robyn Lively, somewhat infamously known from the cult classic Teen Witch. Top that.
