So have any of you heard of Tesla's one 100% electric roadster? I read a bit about it in passing, and briefly thought "Huh, that's cool." Never did I think I would be driving one at 90+ miles an hour across the Freemont on an absolutely perfect sunny Portland day, but that's exactly what happened to me this afternoon.
Agave Denim, one of my faves and should be one of yours too, held a special event at Mario's in conjunction Tesla. In fact my friend at PDX NeatSheet wrote a great piece about it, check it out. Before the event, the Agave people contacted me asking me if I wanted to drive the Tesla, to which I responded "Uh...... ummmm...... I guess so?" I mean, why not, right?
Well thank god they asked me because that was the most awesome (a word you'll note I've never used on this blog before) experience I've had in a while. As you can see from the link above, the Tesla Roadster is 100% electric but yet accelerates like one crazy mo-fo. Seriously, 0-60 in under 4 seconds; so fast that I had trouble walking after getting out of that hot little car, the speed was so overwhelming. I still managed to rock the car though. The guy from Tesla who had to accompany me left the car telling everyone I was "the drive of the day!"
Not only is it fast, but the sound it makes while gaining speed is beyond cool. No revving, since this isn't a traditional motor, no, it literally sounds like technology purring. Tesla actually provided the sound for the bat mobile in the Dark Knight, and it truly sounds like a super cool movie effect. Simply put, once again, the Tesla roadster is awesome, and a big thanks to the super cool folks at Agave for hooking me up.
And as a separate shout out, today was the exact thing my stepfather would have gotten the biggest grin over, were he still alive. So, while I was speeding along in the glorious sunshine, I pushed the pedal down a little further just for Don.

He would have been very happy to know you were thinking of him on his birthday.....
Your last paragraph brought me to tears.
