The Whiff Heard Round The World

Let me preface this entire post that I am firmly, solidly on Team Fed.  I like Nadal, I can appreciate his game and physicality, but I still like Fed.  That said, did anyone else see the head scratchingly awful end to an otherwise intriguing match played today at the final of the Madrid Masters?  Just confounding.

First of all, I was barely able to watch the match because our country doesn't care about the clay court season.  ESPN with all of it's many incarnations doesn't even bother with it, and I am one of those unfortunate people you hear tell about, that doesn't actually have cable, so no Tennis Channel for me.  This morning I tried two sports bars to no avail, and then tried subscribing on-line with three different credit cards, all of them denied for no reason.  I even tried to listen to the match on internet radio, and that was yet another dead end.  Fortunately my friends Meeghn and Pher allowed me to storm their humble abode on a Sunday morning to watch, Meeghn's on Team Fed too, so we were compatriots.

For two hours we watched and cheered and tried to keep the hope alive, and after Fed saved the first match point against him on Nadal's serve, we thought maybe there was hope.  When Fed then served strongly and Nadal was barely able to return the ball to the center of the court, Fed seemed perfectly poised to pounce and level the tie breaker.  His dependable fancy footwork was with him, he was right on the ball, just needed to slam it back for a winner and........... whiff.

Completely and totally missed the ball.  Meeghn, Pher and I had to rewind to make sure we saw what we thought we saw.  Here, check it out for yourself!

Can you believe the best player in the history of the game went down like that?  I for one, can not.

Daily Buzz’ing

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated.  I just don't know where April went!  Anyway, I was just back in Florida, first visiting my mom and spending some quality time together, and then back to Orlando again to film another segment on the Daily Buzz.  This time I was talking about great gifts for Mother's Day from CVS/pharmacy and Lands' End, and I had a lot of fun with their wacky weather guy Mitch.  He and I have worked together before, and he's always cool.  Check it out if you have a moment.

Sirlennox on the Daily Buzz!

Today I was oh so lucky enough to be a guest on a show called the Daily Buzz on behalf of TJ Maxx and Marshalls.  It's a really fun morning talk show based out of Orlando FL, but is syndicated nationally.  I have actually been on this show a few times before, but that was before the advent of my blog so this is a new venue to you.

Everyone there was super nice to me, especially during the model drama I had.  See, the way I like to work is I prefer to produce everything I can on my end: choose the trends, select the looks, write the talking points, pick out the models, you know; control everything.  I picked four great models from a local modeling agency, only to have one of them be a complete no show the morning of.  When you're doing a LIVE early morning news segment, no shows can spell disaster.  Thankfully I was able to remain calm (mostly due to my searing jet lag) while getting the booker to find me another model, any model, and the Daily Buzz pushed the segment air time back a bit, to allow the replacement model more time to arrive.

Hopefully you can't tell any of that when you watch the segment.  Go ahead and see if you can guess which model is the last minute replacement, I'm hoping it's not obvious.  My other favorite little behind the scenes bit about this segment is I am uploading it and writing it all while at 38,000 feet thanks to Delta's Go-Go Wi-Fi.  It's not cheap, but it sure does work well.  Hope you like the segment, I believe I'll be back on DB soon!

PS- For some reason the initial still image of the segment makes it seem like I was uncomfortably ogling Holly (the host)'s chest.  I mean really, just look at the angle of my head.  It's creepy.  Anyway, those of you who know me, are aware there is really no way in hell I was doing that, just in case there was any confusion.  Just for kicks, I've provided a more obvious visual representation of it below.

Hot Fashion Mess: Mischa Barton

My oh my how La Barton has fallen.  Does anyone else remember when she was young, skinny and stylish?  Where oh where has that little chickadee gone?  In her place is this hippy (as in those thunder thighs) mess.  Would you ever fathom this combo even on your worst day?  Tied up shirt with exposed mid-riff, high waisted tapered yellow denim and ruby slippers?

La Barton's defense?  "That was my easter outfit."  Oh, well as long as you have a good reason.  And just when you thought it counldn't get any worse, check out the rear view.  Maybe La Barton wass still in character as the hooker she recently portrayed on SVU? I mean look at that ridiculous VPL.

Rain gear and AM Northwest

This morning I went on AM Northwest to talk about fashionable rain gear for women and kids.  It's really easy to just let the Northwest gloom take over your wardrobe, but these great pieces prove you don't have to sacrifice fashion for function.  Lands' End does a fantastic job incorporating both, check it out!
